These plants offer colorful holiday blooms. Bolivian Sunset, Seemannia sylvatica, a perennial that flowers year-round. From the African violet family, with origins in Bolivia and Peru. Grown outdoors in dappled shade, the density of the evergreen foliage and red-orange tubular flowers makes a spectacular ground cover display.
Flame of Jamaica, Euphorbia punicea, an evergreen shrub/small tree from Jamaica, blooms almost year-round. What appears to be a flower is actually an inflorescence surrounded by scarlet or crimson bracts (modified leaves). Grows well in full sun.
Tropical Sage, Salvia coccinea, a perennial wildflower with bright red (and white, pink, orange) flowers produced on spikes, blooms nearly all year. Native to southeastern U.S. and tropical America, widely cultivated and naturalized in the subtropics and tropics. Grows well in a sunny or light shade location.
