The Arthur M. Sackler Gallery and the adjacent Freer Gallery of Art form the Smithsonian Institution's national museum of Asian art. From the current exhibition, The Arts of China, this bronze and gold lobed mirror (Tang Dynasty, 618-907) features incised figures and foliated designs, auspicious symbols, arranged symmetrically around the central boss, through which a cord would be strung. The reverse side is polished to a reflective surface.
