Fontaine des Mers

Based on a maritime theme, the bronze Fontaine des Mers in the Place de la Concorde (largest square in Paris) was designed by Jacob Ignaz Hittorf, installed in 1836. The Luxor Obelisk originally marked the entrance to the Luxor Temple during Ramses II's reign (1279-1213 B.C.), Luxor, ancient Thebes.
