Fontaine Médicis

Located in the Jardin du Luxembourg, the Medici Fountain was built by engineer and garden designer Thomas Francine in 1630 and is the only surviving part of the Luxembourg decorative elements constructed at the request of Marie de' Médicis. The plane trees surrounding the fountain and grotto contrast with French formal gardens, not pruned and leafing out for shade.
