In the center of the Theater District, St. Malachy's, known as The Actors' Chapel, has been identified with Broadway since the 1920s. A spiritual home to actors, producers, dancers, musicians, and playwrights, the Gothic style chapel (1910, architect Thomas Duff) is an important aspect of New York City's entertainment community. Its pews have been occupied by Irene Dunne, Sir Alec Guinness, Florence Henderson, Bob Hope, Rosalind Russell, and Spencer Tracy.
