A flight of stone steps in the Ramble, a 38-acre "wild garden" on the northern side of Central Park Lake--one of the first parts of the park to be built (1859). The Ramble is filled with trees, glades, urban trails, and rocky cliffs.
On the west side between two outcrops, the Ramble Stone Arch is constructed of boulders from the park, with a narrow walkway above and footpath below. A rustic structure in contrast with many of the park's other stone archways, built in 1863 to designs by Calvert Vaux.
