Another massive suspension bridge situated between the Brooklyn and Williamsburg Bridges, Manhattan Bridge connects downtown Brooklyn to Manhattan's Chinatown. Completed in 1909 by engineer Othniel Foster Nichols, the three-span, double-decker structure accomodates substantial traffic with its walkway, bike path, vehicle lanes, and subway tracks, while the bridge's appearance is graceful and light, emphasized with a slender, "two-dimensional" steel tower. View from Empire-Fulton Ferry State Park, Brooklyn.
