Willow Street

Custom built window boxes adorn parlor floor windows at 70 Willow Street, Brooklyn Heights, former home of writer Truman Capote between 1955 and 1965. Capote rented the garden apartment in this double-width Greek Revival townhouse (built 1839) from owner and Broadway scenic designer Oliver Smith, who designed sets for "West Side Story," "Guys and Dolls" and "My Fair Lady." While living there, Capote wrote his short novel Breakfast at Tiffany's (1958), later adapted for film, starring Audrey Hepburn.
