Representing a wide range of architectural styles--Federal, Greek Revival, Gothic Revival, and Italianate, as well as early carriage-houses--Brooklyn Heights is a residential area, New York City's first designated historic district (1965). Brick and brownstone houses are densely grouped along tree-lined streets, retaining its original 19th century urban community atmosphere.
